音樂劇《孤星淚》（Les Misérables）英文版插曲填詞人兼記者Herbert Kretzmer今日逝世，享年95歲。
Herbert Kretzmer在學時曾為學校音樂劇填詞，也為劇院選寫專欄，之後任職《Johannesburg Express》專欄作家和記者。
1985年他受邀為《孤星淚》的英文版填詞，更搬到百老匯大舞台上，取得空前巨大的成功。劇目插曲《Do You Hear the People Sing？》（《誰還未發聲》原曲）內歌詞所描述的不屈意志和精神更鼓勵了不少人，而Herbert Kretzner也曾發表公開信祝福抗爭中的香港人。
其他著名作品包括《I Dreamed a Dream》、《On My Own》等，亦使他成功獲得東尼獎與格林美獎。

Herbert 1925年生於南非，20歲時移居英國。最初，他在倫敦為雜誌報章擔任記者和撰寫評論，其後自1960年起，他開始發展填詞為第二事業，為電視電影樂曲填詞。
1985年，Herbert 為改編自雨果同名小說的法國音樂劇《孤星淚》（Les Misérables）填詞。不諳法語的他，並沒有將法文歌詞直譯成英文，而是透過想像雨果筆下革命者的憤怒和自由精神，新編歌詞。原本在法國不受歡迎的兩小時音樂劇《孤星淚》，經Herbert改編，在英國成為長達三小時、賺人熱淚的經典，《Do You Hear the People Sing》和《I Dreamed a Dream》兩曲也為人耳熟能詳。
接受訪問時 Herbert 曾說，《孤星淚》改變了他的一生。「《孤星淚》贈予我倫敦的家，還有我在紐約開幕晚會時遇上的妻子。」《孤星淚》原曲作者 Alain Boublil 和 Claude-Michel 亦讚揚 Herbert 將《孤星淚》發揚光大，「因為他，《孤星淚》在英語找到她的聲音，Herbie 接納了我們的版本，並將其轉化為全世界都能有所共鳴的作品。」

晚上一邊做事，一邊聽著我很喜歡在Spotify聽的「MANSUN's電影音樂清單」，今天選的是「你一定有聽過的電影插曲歌單」，聽到 Keira Knightley 唱的 "Lost Stars"，忽然間覺得全身鬆軟、心情超好，怎麼這麼甜蜜這麼好聽呀。為什麼在《神鬼奇航》裡那麼剛毅的 Elizabeth，會有那麼輕柔的歌聲呢。忍不住重複聽了好幾次。
"Lost Stars" 是《曼哈頓練習曲》（Begin Again, 2014）的其中一首，應該是整部電影中，Knightley 唱得最棒的一首吧。不過，"Lost Stars" 原本並不是 Knightley 的歌，而是 Maroon 5 主唱 Adam Levine 為《曼哈頓練習曲》表演的主題曲，只是想不到 Knightley 的清唱，比起原本就是歌手的 Levine 更吸引人。
然後我開始想，有哪些原本是在演戲的演員，一開口唱歌，就讓人驚艷，讓人好想說：這種歌聲當歌手也一定紅吧？

第一個想到的就是在《La La Land》的 Emma Stone，她在最後的面試時唱的 "Audition"，這是首關於「逐夢的傻子」的歌，簡單的旋律加上戲劇性的歌詞，讓人聽了好感動。

然後想到Anne Hathaway在《悲慘世界》（Les Misérables, 2012）的 "I Dreamed A Dream"。這大概是 Hathaway 在電以中打扮最醜的一次，但也應該是演得最好的一次。

既然前面想到的都是音樂劇，當然也不能忘記《紅磨坊》（Moulin Rouge, 2001）由 Ewan McGregor 唱的 "Your Song"。當年好多女生都因為Your Song 而愛上 McGregor。

想到 "Your Song" 當然就會想到原唱 Elton John，然後馬上就又想到去年暑假上映的《火箭人》（Rocketman, 2019），那是關於 Elton John 的傳記音樂劇，由 Taron Egerton 飾演 John 的狂妄青春少年時，整部電影唱著 John 的歌曲。其中最讓人驚艷的，也是 Egerton 對著好友演唱剛剛譜好曲的 Your Song。這張原聲帶，還有原聲帶的這首歌，在去年夏天，聽了好幾十遍又上百遍。

2019 的夏天，誰也不知道 2020 會是這麼奇怪的一年，好多災難發生，好多人離去。當時再有想像力，也想像不到，會有大家不再旅行、也不再進戲院的一年，而且，就近在咫尺。

最後想說的是，真喜歡「MANSUN's電影音樂清單」，不只是因為他歌單裡的歌，很多都是我的菜，更妙的是，每套歌單都有種100%擊中情境的描述，像是「經痛到靈魂快出竅的歌單」「不幹了！我開除了黑心公司歌單」「妹子都不回訊息很厭世的歌單QQ」「這麼棒的歌你怎麼沒聽過（抓肩膀搖晃）」等等。
我完全不認識 MANSUN，沒為誰廣告，完全是因為 Knightley 讓我分心，不知不覺就想太多，也寫到半夜了。

繼「妳愛他」好評上架後，甜美有才的 Dena 與超級製作人 Skot Suyama 陶山老師，一同譜寫了今夏最新英文單曲「DAYDREAMING 白日夢」，訴說著女孩在夏天的單戀故事⋯
「DAYDREAMING 白日夢」的靈感，源自於 Dena 對天菜唱作人 John Mayer (約翰梅爾) 的仰慕，並期待某天能有機會對他告白，只可惜現實如此遙遠，Dena 也必須要從這「白日夢」醒來。
Dena 與陶山老師一同寫曲、填詞，兩位音樂人共同將女孩單戀、朝思暮想的心情，透過活潑抒情的方式，完整地刻畫出來。
Daydreaming is a song about my obsession with John Mayer. Dreaming of him noticing me in the crowd; in hopes of one day being able to be with him IRL (in real life); but then I realized that it was all just a dream (ugh, Dena!). I wrote it back in 2014 with a producer I'd always dreamed of working with - Skot Suyama. I remember me tentatively sending in my demo, thinking about the slight chance of working with him, and I couldn't believe it happened. We ended up writing so many more songs together. However, distributing songs back then were an issue if you were under any sort of contract, so we had to keep all these gems hidden for years and years. And now, finally, I am this close to tears in knowing that one of our songs, Daydreaming, is finally officially available to the world! People say that the timing is never truly right, but for this song and for those of you listening, I truly hope it's as close as it can get:) - Dena

Here is an English cover of "Kimi ni Todoke" by Japanese band flumpool. It was the theme song for the 2010 movie of the same name.
I have been getting a lot of requests for this song for a while, so I finally decided to give it a try. It was fun to translate into English and play around with the words (as always!), but it was a bit challenging to actually sing it with my vocal range, so the vocals aren't my best :-$
Also, there were a few places where it was hard to tell if the subject was "you" or "me" (Japanese doesn't always use a subject in each sentence), so please understand that this translation is just my interpretation :) Hope you like it!

今日は、皆さんからいただいたリクエストの中で特に人気のあったflumpoolの「君に届け」の英語訳を作って歌ってみました(^^)/ この曲は、2010年の映画『君に届け』の主題歌でした。
この曲を英語に訳すのは、いつもと同じように楽しい作業でしたが、歌うことに関しては、歌えるキーに直してみると低い部分は低く、高い部分はかなり高いので歌うのがとても困難でした（ボーカルが怪しいところがあるかと思います(笑)）。また、歌詞については、主語が「僕」なのか「君」なのか分かりにくい部分があったので、この翻訳はあくまでも私の解釈です。気に入っていただけると嬉しいです(^^♪ Enjoy!
